Maurice Cooper — Host, MC, and All-Around Performing Artist

For the past eight years I’ve been the voice, the grin, and the occasionally host with the most at events across the Eastern Sierra. From high-energy karaoke nights where I help support even the shyest shower-singers onto the mic, to team trivia evenings that turn friendly neighborhoods into full-on game show rivalries, I specialize in creating nights that people talk about (and tag each other in) for weeks. My style blends quick wit, crowd-reading savvy, and a knack for timing that turns ordinary moments into memorable ones—think equal parts emcee finesse and campfire storyteller.

Before and alongside the MC life, I’ve spent twelve years performing onstage in California, mostly in Mammoth Lakes. My work with Sierra Classic Theatre and Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre has taken me through a range of roles—dramatic, comedic, and delightfully oddball—sharpening my presence, improvisational instincts, and connection with an audience. Some performances include: Hoke Colburn from Driving Miss Daisy, Nick Bottom the Weaver from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Don Pedro from Much Ado About Nothing. That theater background informs everything I bring to hosting: clear projection, purposeful pacing, character-driven banter, and an instinct for when to push the energy or pull everyone in for an intimate moment.

What I bring to your event:

  • A playful, engaging emcee who keeps the night moving and spirits high

  • Theater-honed vocal control and stagecraft for flawless delivery

  • Crowd-reading and on-the-fly improvisation to handle surprises with humor

  • Experience producing inclusive, high-energy karaoke and trivia atmospheres that get people laughing, competing, and having fun

Whether it’s leading a sing-along on the brightest stage, hosting teams through trivia in a dimly lit bar, or providing a fun atmosphere for a community celebration, I’m your go-to for events that feel both professional and delightfully unpredictable.
